I have been training clients since 2001. For me it’s an extension of my passion for health and fitness, and an enjoyment of educating others in my discipline.
It all started when I was 5 years old, my uncle was a bodybuilding fan and had a collection of muscle mags. I would look at them in fascination, details of striations, road map veins, and large full muscle bellies made me want to do that too! That year I received my first set of dumbbells and Arnold’s Encyclopedia of body building. I was an advanced child and was reading from the age of 3. In my lifetime I have probably read this book 20 times. I devoured the knowledge in that book, learning everything I could about Arnold’s take on nutrition, supplementation, exercise, lifestyle, and plan writing. This was the basis for my enthusiasm of bodybuilding. After that it was learning from other great minds and coaches in the sport.
When I was 21 I started taking on a few side clients, I was working and going to college for web development and programming. It was fun helping these people hit their goals, but it also opened me up to a bunch of challenges I never considered, or was faced with training myself. Things like why are some people unable to feel certain muscle groups or exercises, why do they have lagging body parts, how to deal with injuries and limitations, why doesn’t one diet work for everyone, how to work with special nutritional needs, the list goes on. I started doing research, making friends with specialists, dieticians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, constantly learning and adapting my methodology.
In 2009, I was 29 years old, I had more than enough of the tech industry, bouncing from career to career, never finding something that fit my interests. I decided to take my part time PT job to a full time career. I took the CanFit certification course, and got a job at Goodlife fitness. In 2011 I started training clients online, making connections with people all over the world via social media. In 2013, I left Goodlife and started God Body Personal Training.
I live and love what I do. Helping people realize their dreams is the only career for me.
